Kesoo and Sarju have been discussing and come to the conclusion, that they should meet the doctor and ask her to set up Kesoo's investigation. They need money, and as the keys are with the mother, they go to meet her.
In the meantime, in Laxmi's room, she has been painting her slippers black, and she has a visitor, Phoolmani who wants to needle her Aunt Ramdei. Both of them are figuring out way to bring her down, and ultimately send her family out of the haveli, and take possession of it themselves. Laxmi asks Phoolmani to be patient, and the two conniving women, pass they time, giving each other ideas.
Ramdei, is sitting on her high chair, commanding a view of her haveli, proud of her being the Mistress with the keys and the money. Her two sons come and stand before her, as the camera pans from one face to another, showing them anxious, and in a state of awe, in front of their over bearing mother, who also glares with eyes full of suspicion, at her sons, and wonders what her Ram and Laxman have come to her for. The words do not escape from the mouths of her sons, as they are tongue tied, and the mother then orders them to say what is on their mind.
Sarju, the younger, timidly tells his mother, that they need some money, the money which belongs to him, but now in the hands of his mother, as a result of his own decision. The mother, gets ruffled, and tells him, what he needs the money for, and why are they going out. She thinks she is in the old house, where she ruled the roost. Kesoo, holds Sarju by the hand, and tells him, that he wants to tell her the truth, and Ramdei comes to know that they want to go to the doctor for a check up, and need the money.
Ramdei pontificates and orders them, that they should not meet the doctor, as in her view, this will bring the reputation of her family down, and the villagers will come to know that in fact he is impotent, and the child which Kalki bore is not his but is that of her paramour. This is what Ramdei is upset about. She does not think of anything else, and where her reputation is concerned, there is no room for bargain.
After listening to her rantings, Kesoo just gets annoyed, and moves close to his mother, stretches his hand to the palm of his mother, snatches her keys, and then walks to the cup board, with his brother, and take ten thousand rupees. He tells Sarju, that he has borrowed this money, and they go to the doctor.
Ramdei is in tears, and very upset, that her reputation will go down, and all will know the truth about Kalki, her son, and that the child was not Kesoo's. She was surfing on the waves of lies, and now they will be bared. She can not face this. The good old daughters in law, try to bring some sense in her, but she does not seem to be of a caliber, who has that much of intelligence. Laachi, tells her to be careful of what she says in front of the two conniving cousins, Laxmi and Phoolmani, and they are huddled together. Ramdei is in the clouds, and then as she turns, she sees her two pit bulls, whom she wants to kill, but does not know how.
Vishnoo is in Rani's house and they too plot as to how to grab Sarju's wealth. Rani is in the village, and waiting for Sarju, who is riding his bike, and she comes in front of the bike, and falls, and the credulous Sarju, falls in Rani's trap. More tomorrow.
